UnoDogs as in 2023, is a side project of Chinmay who works full time as a Marketing expert in a global organization. Chinmay is an expert in marketing, website development, dog nutrition and analytics.

Me and Angel

I, Chinmay Mishra, am an avid dog lover. As a hobby I read a lot of books about dogs' - health, training, care, nutrition, psychology and more. It is something I have been doing for last 2 decades.

In 2015, I got a female Golden Retriever puppy (my third dog) and named her Angel.

Always overweight after spaying

I got Angel spayed when she was 7-8 months old. I knew overweight is one of the side effects of spaying but never had to face it with my other dogs. But Angel was different.

Post the first year, Angel was always on the higher side of the ideal weight range. At 4 years of age, she was around 34 kgs and after 6 years of age, she was in the range of 37-39 kgs. She never lost weight even after continuous rationing of food and increased exercise.

She never had any medical issue which was ruled out multiple times.

My struggle for well designed programs

I fed Angle, homemade cooked food and occasionally included commercial dry dog food. I struggled a lot to find genuine and structured programs for weight loss in dogs. Most researches were sponsored by dry food companies and internet is full of content which aim first for traffic over quality and correctness.

Managing a log of calories and nutrition was notoriously tough. I started using human apps but also in vain. Few pet nutritionist provides services, but they give limited recipes and also very expensive.

UnoDogs is born

Being an engineer and a researcher. I read lot of books, research papers, articles, etc. on dog health, nutrition and fitness. Built some nice excel models and started planning meals which were right for weight loss in dogs but also provided complete nutrition.

I realized a lot of other dog parents were struggling with the same issue. That gave me the idea for UnoDogs. I started working on it in my spare time and on weekends and aimed to get a website and an webapp which can offer personalized meal planning for fresh homemade dog food.
